Server network
hide.me VPN is a Malaysian virtual private network service with a very decent-sized server network consisting of over 2,600 servers across 90 locations. While it may be smaller than many top-tier VPNs, it is still adequate and comes with lots of premium features, such as the following:
- Wide geographic reach: Servers are located across North America, Europe, Asia, and some regions in South America, Africa, and the Middle East.
- No virtual servers: hide.me claims to use only physical servers, which enhances reliability and speed.
- Streaming & P2P optimized servers: Many servers are optimized for streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime, while others support P2P file sharing.
- Dedicated IP & static IP options: Users can opt for a dedicated or static IP address for added security and reliability.
- Multihop feature: This allows users to connect through multiple servers for enhanced privacy.
Strong privacy and security
Like similar top-tier VPNs, hide.me VPN uses AES-256 encryption, which is the highest industry standard for securing data and protecting your online activities. It includes all necessary features like DNS leak protection, a kill switch, a strict no-logs policy, and multiple VPN protocols, including WireGuard, OpenVPN, and IKEv2.
Generous free tier and premium offerings
One rare trait of hide.me VPN is its free tier offering, which is more than adequate to judge their service as well as for beginner purposes. It offers unlimited data and access to its default servers in eight locations. While it does limit some features, it is a great way to test out the VPN before buying a subscription.
Pricing may vary depending on your region, platform (Android, iOS, desktop, and others), and any ongoing promotions or discounts.
Transparent and trustworthy
hide.me VPN is optimized for speed, thanks to its use of the WireGuard protocol. Its servers perform reliably across various types of usage. Add to that the free tier option and the overall low cost for a paid plan, and it is a great option for people looking for a transparent and trustworthy VPN.
